things are good
It's been awhile since the last fireside chat. Much has happened and much still remains the same. Work at City Hall continues to chug along just fast enough for me to be able to jump off and back on again as I please. The past two weekends were spent working on the set of a horror film (in HD) with blood, waxworms, prosthetic jaws and an unbeatable cast & crew. Honestly, I did the least amount of work out of anyone. I spent most my time either looking for slack to pick up or trying to stay out of the way. Thank you to John Conway for the oportunity to work with on Blockhead. Well, that's pretty much it. Thanks again to John, Twitter, Anthony, Drew, Cindy, mom, dad, facebook, Matt, Chris, Leonora, Danny, grandma and Zeus.

I work. I sleep. I play.
Just this morning I was thinking how nice it was to have two months of guaranteed employment. Turns out that the city can only offer me one more week of work. This event was indeed, unexpected. At the end of the week, eh, who knows. It'll be alright though, I have a superhuman immune system and friends that work the taco truck outside my place, well, they work around the taco truck and when I say 'work' I really mean I don't know what they do for a living and when I say that I don't know what they do for a living what I really mean is that I DO have a pretty good idea what they do for a living but would be hard pressed to report it on this blog.. but I divert.. and suggest. Its an ugly game I am flirting with.
In other news, if you are not feeling very well on Monday and you still have to go into work, then PLEASE, for the sake of everyone else wear a mask.. and make it snug. I swear I won't poke fun dude, its just a flu.. and we all know that the flu sucks. My worst fear is that they take all my pork away. What else am I going to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner? Did I mention that I heard about the whole "Swine Flu" on the Daily Show? Yup. Less news. More running. Earlier to bed. This whole structure thing has been pretty cool. Maybe I will wake up early and go for a run tomorrow? Probably not. Have a great weekend and don't forget to write.

My Friday Update
This week has been awesome. I made it to work on time all five days and managed to maintain my position in the corner office of the finance department. It is a strange situation but something that I wouldn't trade up for anything. Today the city offered to extend my "temp position" employment until the end of the fiscal year (June 30th). It is looking like it would still be just the same old $10.33 per hour and the same crappy benefits but I will get to be in LA with the same old incredible friends. I notified my building managers of the need to continue renting my place and they were cool (I gave them my 30 day notice about 2 weeks ago!). Staying around for another couple of months is going to allow me to record some more songs at my buddy Charlie's place and potentially even open up the door for a "real" job... I love it here in LA even if the air sucks, the traffic is worse and my buddy's place just down the street is the tranny epicenter of the universe. It don't matta. Its all about friends and family and the music and love that binds us. K. So today's post is a wee bit more personal than normal but I figured that I would give my fans something to chew on over the weekend. Off to Charlie's studio in Studio City this evening to record. Wish me luck.. and I THANK YOU for taking the time out of your life to see what has been goin' on in mine! The Art of Coming Up With Something to Blog About
Get enthusiastic about it! Things tend to happen faster when you successfully generate a heavy rolling motivation behind a cause or a practice. Wow, I just pulled that one out of thin air. Enough dilly dallying. I thought a bit this afternoon (ouch!) about what I look for in my writing and the same questions keep popping into my head:
- How can I add value?
- How can I keep this simple.. clear?
- Is the underlying tone of the post, positive?
- Am I being honest with myself and my readers?
- Is my writing in alignment with what I am wanting to promote in myself and those around me?
