Selling Your Home in 2013?


Just one more month to go before 2013 kicks off! 

With the expiration of the Bush tax cuts at the end of 2012 and a new 3.8% medicare tax on investment income (taking effect on January 1st 2013) you could be looking at an 8.8% tax increase should you decide to wait to sell your home.

In Silicon Valley, there are a lot of people that have decided to hold off on selling their homes right now because they feel that the market is on the upswing and that they will get greater returns in 2013. This has created a shortage in supply and resulted in multiple offers on remaining inventory.

It will be interesting to see how everything plays out. If you are on the fence about selling your home right now I would highly recommend that you put it on the market right away.. the market will not support home sellers trying to "test" the market come 2013 if supply picks up and we shift away from a seller's market.

We have reached the perfect storm for the California real estate market: Now is an incredible time to buy AND sell!

If you purchased a home on January 1st, 2000, here is how it would have performed compared to other investment vehicles over the same period of time...

Rates continue to hover at or around historical lows... not many people are expecting the rates to remain at this level for very long...

We are back down to 2002 (post bubble-burst) price levels:


But you can get more for your money with where rates are right now...


Paying rent just doesn't feel great in general.. and rental rates are predicted to continue to increase dramatically all over the country...

Even if you are not currently in the market it is always a good idea to keep an eye on the market shifts and trends so that you have a leg up when you decide to make a move. Great Year in Real Estate!




With a short sale, commercial lease and a residential lease already under my belt I am excited to see what I am capable of during my second year in real estate.

Anxious to balance out my buyers with another local listing that I can sink my teeth into but I know this opportunity will only present itself once I am ready.
